ET Net News Agency reported on the 6th that US President Trump confirmed on Monday (5th) that new terrorist threats prompted the United States to move its 12 B-1 bombers from a base in the UK.
On 27th last month, UK police intercepted five men attempting to travel to RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, where suspected explosives were found in their vehicle, raising suspicion of a planned terrorist attack. Subsequently, the 12 US B-1 bombers stationed at the base flew away. The US Department of Defense confirmed they are returning to bases on the US mainland.
Trump said: 'They didn't just fly away by chance, there were some threats. Why would we leave them there? So we moved them slightly, not very far.'
Vice President Vance also stated on the same day, 'The US government has reasonable confidence that Iran is attempting terrorist acts against the United States and many others.' The redeployment of the B-1 bombers was 'out of extreme caution, to protect our people.' (yc)
