[ET Net News Agency, 8 October 2026] The Hang Seng Index opened 98 points lower today at 24,031. It reached a high of 24,146, up 15 points, and a low of 23,737, down 393 points. The Hang Seng Index closed down 344 points, or 1.4%, at 23,785.
Southbound funds recorded a net inflow of HK$6.48b for the full day, decreased by 5.6%. The top stocks by net Southbound buying were TENCENT (00700), AIA (01299) and XIAOMI-W (01810) in that order. The top stocks by net selling were GENSCRIPT BIO (01548), YOFC (06869) and SMIC (00981) in that order.
Mainboard turnover increased by 118.9% to nearly HK$207.26b. Among this, Stock Connect turnover exceeded HK$79.9b, accounting for 38.6% of the total turnover.
